ok, i was offered by a talent marketing guy that he will market my art, an get clients in exchange?

for 25% of sales for the next 5 years from anything generated from the sales of art, he would get the clients an market that would be his part. but anything even contacts generated would be subject to 25% of anything sold within the 5 years. how does this sound ? should i go with it? has anyone else done something like this oh yea an he said i would have to pay expenses, like brochures or whatever might come up. although its my say weither i approve it or not well he also said he finds places to hang art also, like public apperances an stuff

you know, i dont know you and i don't know your art. i ran by your question and wanted to congratulate you! there are so many undiscovered artists. you are going to be able to get paid for what you love to do! cograts. and i would say 25% for 5 years is high, but then.. they are taking a chance and introducing you. go for it. what do you have to lose? that is the question. what do you lose from this offer? good luck
It depends very much the context you put your artwork in. 25% is almost what you pay for a good gallery, which markets you (normally 30 to 40% for very good galleries, with press work, exhibitions, catalogues, etc. So you should be careful about the 25%, without all that extra service. I would not do it gerneally on all sales. For the clients he brings, without any other service, you can offer 15%. But generally I would not bind myself to a non professional art salesman, if he is not a friend. And even then, it is a question, if it will help you.
Please be careful. I'm just getting underway looking for a publisher for my first novel, and learning about this stuff myself (literary agents, publishers and such---and though my art isn't anywhere near as good as my writing, I'm looking out for the artistic marketing stuff as well). Beware of scams . . .
Sounds like a bad idea to me, and if there's any type of contract involved here that's even a worst idea. There's no artist i know that even deals with those kind of people.
